La Mensa operates the La Mensa restaurant at 93 Salamanca Place, Battery Point, Hobart TAS 7004 and this website. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Information we collect
- Table bookings: your name, phone number, email address, the date, time and number of guests, and anything you tell us in the requests box (for example a dietary need or an occasion).
- Event and function enquiries, and contact messages: your name, contact details and the content of your message.
- Gift cards: the buyer's name and email address, the recipient's name and email address if the card is sent to someone else, and any personal message. Card payments are taken by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
- Online orders: ordering is provided by GloriaFood (Oracle). Details you enter there are handled under GloriaFood's own privacy policy, and we receive what we need to prepare your order.
How we use it
We use this information only to do what you asked: confirm and manage your booking, reply to your enquiry, deliver a gift card, and keep the records a business is required to keep. We do not sell personal information, and we do not add you to a marketing list without your consent.
Website visit statistics
We count visits to understand which pages are useful. This is done on our own server without advertising trackers and without cookies. We do not store your IP address. Each visit is recorded against an anonymous code that changes every day, so visits cannot be linked from one day to the next or traced back to a person. Records are deleted after about 13 months.
Cookies
The website sets only essential cookies: one that keeps a form secure while you submit it and one that remembers your session (for example, to show your booking confirmation). They are not used for advertising.
Other services this website uses
Some features are provided by other companies, which receive the technical information any website receives (such as your IP address) when your browser loads them: Google Maps (the map on our contact pages), Google Fonts (typefaces), Stripe (gift card payments) and GloriaFood (online ordering). Emails we send you are delivered through our email provider.
Storage and security
Information submitted through this website is stored on a secured server managed by our website developer, which may be located outside Australia. Access is limited to restaurant staff who need it, connections to the website are encrypted, and payment details are never stored by us.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it.
